The Student (1984)

 In the book, Ivan was walking around and met widows in the garden where the campfire was. He says about the story of Peter. However, after the story, Lukerya stares upon Ivan and Vasilissa weep. 

I thought Ivan is the type of Hero giving knowledge to people. Specifically, Vasilissa, showed tears by the story. Maybe she felt some guilt that she couldn’t help Lukerya. In the end, the storyteller, Ivan feels positive and the story mood shows warmth. It makes the atmosphere hopeful. Based on these moods maybe Vasilissa regrets her guilt and can be changed. Also, the writer says Ivan is 22 years old. It shows he has a lot of possibilities that can make more people regret their life. Furthermore, I think it shows the possibility that Russian society can be change (134 words)

    Good interpretation. Which stage of the journey are you commenting on? Also avoid saying "book" when it is a short story. And specify "Chekhov" not "the writer." Get used to being specific and using the details clearly.

8/10  I looked up papers about James Joyce, and there were many papers, Dubline itself was interpreted as a place to monitor children. Adults can see children playing in the plaza at every angle, and it is the background of trying to be included in such social norms. However, in this surveillance city, the boy found Mangan's sister while looking around the city and fell in love with her. However, the boy always hides and looks at the girl only in hidden places. The boy can feel joy while looking at the girl, but the girl can't. Also, only the scene where the boy looks at the girl is depicted, but the girl looking at the boy is not depicted. When I look at this, I think I can feel the male gaze that the teacher said. In the process of looking at a girl, the image created by the boy through the insertion of subtle sentences is added and deteriorated. However, as this city itself is a space for surveillance, it has not created anything more than a deteriorated gaze. No further dev...

The Sisters - James Joyce (1914)

 I read this short story similar to “Doubt” by John Patrick Shanley. There is also Father Flynn who is preist. Its story about Flynn and Sister Aloysius is arguing whether Flynn made a sexual assault on his church boy or not. In “Doubt” the boy was the first student who was black in the school. However, Father Flynn was kind to him. Sister Aloysius was doubting because Flynn was extremely kind to the boy, and Flynn is saying because he was the only black in the school so he should take care more. However, “The Sisters” of James Joyce shows suspicion because of the boy and Father Flynn as too close.  Both stories don’t have the answer and a clear ending. It makes doubt to readers. However, I am wondering if this doubt, just because the reason that they are too close is reasonable. (791words)

The Lady With the Dog, By Anton Chekhov (1899)

  8/10 While reading this short story, I thought Grouv and Anna were both crazy people. Both of them were married, but they cheated on each other while travling and went to a place where they lived. This is crazy. No matter how much Grouv hated his wife, how can he do this when he has children? However, reading this short story, the more I felt that the writer wanted to look at it in a good way. There is a saying in Korean. If I do it, romance. If others do it, affair. It seems to feel different depending on the perspective. However, although this short story is an omniscient writer's point of view, it felt like Grouv was explaining it himself because readers can see the main character's mind. In other words, since the main character and the narrator's position are closer, the relationship between infidelity seems to have felt like romance. If the relationship between the narrator and the protagonist is separated, I think it will be more focused on infidelity than romance. ...
